13 Reasons Why A Small Business or Entrepreneur Needs a Website

ht1) Compete on a Larger Scale.
  • Having a Website allows you to compete with the larger companies in your field without the overhead costs. On the Internet, a small or home based business is the same size as a corporation if the Website is professional.
2) Your competition has a Website.
  • If you are in direct competition with another business that has a Website, they have a clear advantage - especially if they are adequately marketing their Website.
3) Strengthen Customer Relations.
  • Yellow pages, directories, and printed materials are being used less. Websites strengthen customer relations by making your business easily and readily accessible using the power of your online presence. Improve Customer Confidence & Corporate Image.
4) Improve Customer Confidence & Corporate Image.
  • With a professional website, your business will instill customer confidence and will greatly improve your overall image. The biggest benefit of having a website is, of course, brand image.
5) Small Businesses Have Higher Revenue.
  • According to the Small Business Administration, small businesses that have websites are averaging $1.07 million per year in sales more than small businesses not online. That equates to 39% higher revenue.
6) Not Just Local – Global.
  • Most small businesses are only able to market to their town and surrounding communities. With a website, you can take your goods and services across America and around the world, if you choose.
7) Online Customer Support.
  • Provide personalized support for your customers with answers to common questions; assistance on specific products or services, provide a variety of ways in which you can be contacted. Do all this without answering a phone or hiring additional staff.
8) Be Open for Business 24 hours a day.
  • This sounds bad but in reality it's a big plus. With e-mail, people can contact you anytime it is convenient for them. You can respond anytime that's convenient for you. When you have a website, potential customers can find out about your products and services 24 hours a day.
9) Reach customers that speak a foreign language.
  • Why restrict your market to the "English-speaking" world? Translate your website into a number of languages and offer a choice to users when they come to your home page to further increase your exposure.
10) Update or Change products and services easily and at low cost.
  • If you have produced "paper" catalogs and brochures, you know how difficult and expensive it is to change them. With your Internet site, changing anything is a simple and inexpensive process.
11) Promote Specials.
  • Say you just received a new product and you want to advertise a "special." You can put a "SPECIAL" notice on your website advertising the new product.
12) Accept Credit Cards.
  • Through your Website, you can accept online credit card transactions. This is a plus to customers who wish to prepay for their purchases. This is especially useful for companies who provide delivery services. The transaction is already complete before the driver arrives with the product.
13) Establish More New Customers.
  • According to the Small Business Administration, 50% of Internet sales are from new customers. Having a website will significantly improve your customer reach no matter what services or products you are offering. Want new customers? Get a website!
